Prepare for Your First Meeting with a Lawyer
You have narrowed down your choice of counsel and have your first appointment booked. Regardless of the lawyer's area of practice, this is what you should do prior to your first meeting.
First and foremost, be prepared to explain how did your problem (issue) came about and how you would like for this problem to get resolved in an ideal world. It may be a good idea to write a brief summary beforehand and bring that note with you to the meeting.
Second, please make sure to bring your Driver's License with you. If your legal issue involves a corporation of which you are a Director you will also need to bring a copy of the Incorporation Documents. If your legal issue involves a personal injury matter, please make sure to grab your OHIP card and if you have access to group insurance , your group insurance card.
